| Slow cookers recalled
WASHINGTON, July 18 (UPI) -- The Consumer Product Safety Commission says Hamilton Beach and Proctor-Silex are recalling about 2.7 million slow cookers. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the cookers have handles on the base that can break, posing a risk of burns from hot food spilling onto consumers. BizVantage Serious & personalized business, investment and technology intelligence for a serious advantage. The company has received about 4,700 reports of handles breaking, including two reports of consumers who required medical attention for burns. The recalled slow cookers were sold under the Hamilton Beach and Proctor-Silex brand names at discount department stores nationwide from January 1999 through December 2002 for $15 to $45. Consumers can contact Hamilton Beach at 1-800-429-6363 for a base replacement.
