(TACOMA-ALBUQUERQUE)
ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (Ticker) -- Paul Hoover hit a two-run
home run as the Albuquerque Isotopes edged the Tacoma Rainiers,
5-4. Hoover clubbed his fourth homer of the year in the eighth
inning to pull Albuquerque ahead. Matt Erickson and Jason Wood
each ripped an RBI single in the seventh inning to cut the
deficit to 4-3 for the Isotopes, who have won eight of their
last 10 games. Ozwaldo Mairena (4-2) struck out one in a perfect
inning of relief to pick up the win. Blaine Neal allowed a hit
in a scoreless ninth inning to notch his 10th save. Chad Meyers
laced a two-run single in the fifth inning and Mickey Lopez gave
Tacoma a 4-1 lead in the sixth with an RBI double. Julio
Mosquera had three hits including a run-scoring single for the
Rainiers, who dropped their fourth consecutive game. Allan
Simpson (2-4) surrendered two runs and a hit in an inning to
suffer the loss.
