ATLANTA, July 19 (UPI) -- Russ Ortiz struggled through five innings Saturday to become the first 13-game winner in the National League as Atlanta beat the NY Mets, 7-4.

Ortiz (13-4) gave up three runs and four hits with five strikeouts and four walks to become the second pitcher in the major leagues with at least 13 wins. Toronto's Ray Halladay has 14.

The 29-year-old righthander allowed a runner to reach base in four of his five innings, but extended his winning streak to six games.

New York scored a run in the ninth and had the tying run on deck, but John Smoltz struck out Timo Perez for his 35th save of the season.

Tom Glavine (6-10) fell to 0-4 in four starts against Atlanta since signing with New York in the offseason.

Darren Bragg had a two-run triple. Andruw Jones hit his 24th homer.
