| Suns sign first-round pick
PHOENIX, July 16 (UPI) -- The Phoenix Suns agreed to terms Wednesday with Brazilian guard Leandrinho Barbosa, the 28th pick in last month's NBA draft. Barbosa was taken with the next-to-last pick of the first round by the NBA champion San Antonio Spurs and traded to Phoenix for a future first-round pick. He joined Serbian forward Zarko Cabarkapa, the 17th overall selection who signed with the Suns on Monday. BizVantage Serious business, investment and technology intelligence for a serious advantage. Terms of Barbosa's deal were not disclosed. Under the rookie salary scale, he is set to receive a three-year contract worth at least $2.17 million. Phoenix holds an option for the 2006-07 season at $741,800. The 20-year-old Barbosa played last season for Bauru Tilibra in his homeland and averaged 28.2 points and 7.0 assists while shooting nearly 45 percent from three-point range.
