(TORONTO-NY YANKEES)

BRONX, New York (Ticker) -- Roy Halladay tries to match the Toronto Blue Jays' team record with a 15th consecutive victory when they conclude a two-game series against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday.

The righthanded Halladay (14-2, 3.33), who leads the majors in wins, has won his last 14 decisions over 16 starts since losing to the Yankees on April 15 here. He is looking to match Roger Clemens' team record for consecutive wins, accomplished from June 3-September 21, 1998.

But both of Halladay's losses have come against the Yankees. He is 2-2 with a 3.95 ERA in four games vs. the Yankees this season, winning the last two. On July 12, he allowed two runs and four hits in eight innings of a 10-3 win.

The Blue Jays have won five straight games over the Yankees in New York, including an 8-0, 7 1/2-inning victory Monday. Mark Hendrickson tossed a seven-hitter for his first complete game and Vernon Wells belted two homers and drove in three runs.

Toronto has won seven of the last 10 meetings with the Yankees this season.

Yankees lefthander Andy Pettitte (11-6, 4.66) will oppose Halladay. Pettitte has won his last six decisions - one shy of his career-best streak, from July 25-August 24, 2000 - and seven of eight.

On Thursday, he did not factor in a 5-4 win over Cleveland. He allowed four runs and seven hits in seven innings.

Pettitte is 14-7 with a 4.29 ERA in 29 career games, including 28 starts, against the Blue Jays. This season, he is 1-1 with a 6.95 ERA in four games vs. them.
