EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) -- Luis Lopez broke open a close
contest with a three-run homer in the top of the seventh inning
to help the Sacramento River Cats double up the Edmonton
Trappers, 10-5, and gain a two games to none advantage in a
best-of-five Pacific Coast League semifinal series. After Jason
Grabowski ripped a run-scoring double to give Sacramento a 4-2
edge with two outs in the seventh, Lopez, who doubled and scored
in the sixth, slugged a three-run shot to make it 7-2.
Grabowski finished with two hits and three RBI and Mike Edwards
had four singles and scored twice for Sacramento, which has
outscored Edmonton, 26-7, through the first two games of the
series. John Rheinecker (1-0) allowed two runs and five hits in
six innings, striking out two and walking two to earn a solid
win. Ryan Balfe stroked a two-run double in the first and Randy
Knorr added a two-run homer for the Trappers, who have now
dropped six in a row against the River Cats going back to the
regular season. Britt Reames (0-1) gave up three runs and eight
hits in 5 2/3 innings to suffer the loss.
