OTTAWA, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- It's going to be very, very noisy in Canada's capital this Sunday as an urban music festival vies for a world record number of drummers drumming.

The Urban Music Festival in Ottawa begins Friday and will conclude Sunday with the "Earthbeat Challenge," organizers told the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.

The event puts world beat, reggae, R&B and hip hop music and culture into the spotlight.

To break the world record, the group needs to recruit enough drummers to beat Turkey's current Guinness Book of World Records benchmark of 2,208 assembled people drumming at the same time, for more than five minutes.

"We'll need 2,500," said organizer Derek Debeer. "Even if we don't get the proposed amount of numbers, we're just going to go ahead with it."

Organizers will offer drumming workshops before and during the festival.
