Justice Richard Goldstone, a respected jurist who played a critical role in two of the most important responses to human rights violations of our time, will speak at University of the Pacific School of International Studies in Stockton, California, on Friday, October 17, 2003. Goldstone will be speaking on the development of international human rights law and the pursuit and prosecution of those who have committed crimes against humanity. He will also be talking about his most recent book, "For Humanity, Reflections of a War Crimes Investigator."

The book chronicles Justice Goldstone's quest to prosecute war criminals while the system of international law was still being developed. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, in the introduction to Goldstone's book, says: "The wisdom, courage and vigor with which Justice Goldstone approached his work in prosecuting war criminals... and the lessons he has drawn from his far-ranging experiences are invaluable to all who are interested in the pursuit of peace and justice."
