Torry Holt gets big new deal

ST. LOUIS, July 18 (UPI) -- The St. Louis Rams have signed veteran speedster Torry Holt, one of the premier wide receivers in the NFL, to a seven-year contract.

Holt has led or tied for the team lead in receptions six times and receiving yards 10 times in his career. The North Carolina State product is seventh in team history in both receptions (306) and receiving yards (5,088) after only four seasons.

Last season, he posted his third consecutive 1,000-yard receiving season, and has made a quick ascent up the Rams' all-time lists of receptions and receiving yards. He was the Rams leading receiver, making a career-high 91 receptions for 1,302 yards and four touchdowns, and had two rushes for 18 yards.

He was named to the Pro Bowl following the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
