(NORWICH-NEW HAVEN)
WEST HAVEN, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Doug Clark hit a
bases-clearing triple to highlight a five-run rally in the top
of the seventh as the Norwich Navigators defeated the New Haven
Ravens, 7-1. After Mike Cervanek drew a walk with the bases
loaded to snap a scoreless tie, Clark followed with his fourth
triple of the year to make it 4-0. Pat Hallmark, who had three
hits and added an RBI groundout in the ninth, followed the with
a run-scoring double to left field to cap the inning. Cervanek
had two hits, drew a pair of walks and scored twice for Norwich,
which snapped a four-game slide vs. New Haven. Albert Montes
(3-1) allowed a run and three hits in 2 1/3 innings to pick up
the win after starter James Lira yielded just one hit through
the first four frames. Kurt Keene finished 3-for-3 with an RBI
double to lead the Ravens, who had won three in a row. Gustavo
Chacin (3-4) was hit for five runs and four hits in an inning to
suffer the loss after New Haven starter David Bush tossed six
scoreless innings.
