| Bayern denounce Deportivo's blackmailing antics to FIFA
MUNICH, Germany, Aug 12 (AFP) - German champions Bayern Munich are to lodge a formal complaint against Deporivo La Coruna with world football's ruling body FIFA over the protracted transfer of Dutch striker Ron Makaay. Makaay joined the Bundesliga champions after long negotiations with the Spanish side during which, according to Bayern sporting director Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, they forced Makaay to forego wages he was owed. Rummenigge has already spoken "informally" to Gianpaolo Monteneri, who heads FIFA's legal department, but told Bild newspaper on Tuesday the club was now "ready to lodge official procceedings against Deportivo". "They practically blackmailed Makaay," Rummenigge claimed, adding that the Spanish club had forced the Dutch striker to forego his July salary before being allowed to leave the club. The 18.75 million-euro-deal transfer of 28-year-old Makaay was finally completed on Saturday with Bayern agreeing to pay 17.75 million euros to Deportivo. Bayern also agreed to pay a further one million euros in development costs, something that caused a lot of friction between the two clubs, to Makaay's former employer Vitesse Arnhem. Makaay, who trained with his new team-mates last Thursday, will in turn forego a million euros during his four-year contract in Bavaria with his agent also giving up a portion of his fee. "The transfer fee is around 18.75 million euros," explained Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness on Saturday. "Of that 17.75 million euros go to La Coruna and approximately a million euros goes to the club that developed Makaay." A 29-goal haul saw Makaay crowned the Spanish first division's top-scorer last season and underlined why Bayern were willing to make the Dutchman their most expensive ever signing. Makaay could make his Bayern debut in a friendly match Tuesday with Nuremberg. yo/jlv/jd03 Fbl-GER-SPA-Makaay-NED
