Financial terms were not disclosed but the Dallas Morning News pegged the deal at $550,000 plus incentives. Sweeney made $1.8 million last season. "Don's a defenseman with over 1,000 NHL games of experience who will bring stability and depth to our defensive unit," Stars general manager Doug Armstrong said. The 36-year-old Sweeney played in 67 games with the Bruins last season, registering three goals and five assists with 24 penalty minutes. The 15-year veteran appeared in his 1,000th NHL game on Nov. 14 against the New York Islanders. The Bruins plan to use a younger rotation of defensemen this season and Sweeney became an unrestricted free agent. In Dallas, he will likely fill the void left by free agent Derian Hatcher, who signed with Detroit earlier this month.
