Zoe Baird and David R. Whitwam Elected to Board of Directors of Convergys Corporation

CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 26, 2003--Convergys Corporation (NYSE:CVG) announces the election of Zoe Baird and David R. Whitwam to its Board of Directors effective August 26, 2003. James F. Orr, chairman, president, and CEO of Convergys made the announcement following a board meeting held today.

Baird, 51, is president of the Markle Foundation, a private philanthropy that focuses on using information and communications technologies to address critical public needs, particularly in the areas of health care and national security. Whitwam, 61, is chairman and chief executive officer of Whirlpool Corporation (NYSE:WHR).

Baird's career spans business, government, and academia. She has been senior vice president and general counsel of Aetna, Inc., a senior visiting scholar at Yale Law School, counselor and staff executive at General Electric, and a partner in the law firm of O'Melveny & Myers. She was Associate Counsel to President Jimmy Carter and an attorney in the Office of Legal Counsel of the U.S. Department of Justice. She served on President Clinton's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board and on the International Competition Policy Advisory Committee to the Attorney General. Ms. Baird is currently a member of the Technology and Privacy Advisory Committee, which advises Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld regarding the Department of Defense's use of information technology to fight terrorism.

Baird serves on a number of private and non-profit boards of directors including the Chubb Corporation and Save the Children.

Baird holds a BA in Communications and Public Policy and a JD from the Boalt School of Law, both from the University of California at Berkeley.

Whitwam has served as Chairman and CEO of Whirlpool Corporation since 1987. He has served on the company's board of directors since 1985. Whitwam joined Whirlpool's marketing management team in 1968, rising to vice president of the Whirlpool brand business in 1983. In 1985, he was promoted to vice chairman and became the company's chief marketing officer.

Whitwam is a member of the board of directors of PPG Industries, Inc. (NYSE:PPG), the Business Roundtable's Policy Committee and Education Task Force, and is actively involved with BRT's educational reform initiatives on the national and local level. He also serves as the chairman of the Michigan Business Leaders for Educational Excellence organization. He is a trustee of the University of Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation.

A native of Madison, Wisconsin, Whitwam holds BS in Economics from the University of Wisconsin.
