Judge Zuhair al-Maliky said Sunday Mr. Chalabi appeared to have been counterfeiting old Iraqi money and exchanging it for new money issued after the fall of Saddam Hussein.
The judge said he had also issued an arrest warrant on murder charges for Mr. Chalabi's nephew Salem - the head of the special tribunal trying former dictator Saddam Hussein.
Reports say Salem Chalabi is wanted in connection with the killing of an Iraqi official earlier this year. Salem Chalabi has denied any involvement.
