Pakistani police say two bombs went off Sunday evening near an Islamic school in Karachi, killing at least six people and injuring at least 16 others.

Witnesses said the bombs went off within minutes of each other in front of a restaurant near the school.

Police told the Associated Press that the target was unclear and that no one has claimed responsibility. But the news service noted that the head of the school was killed by gunmen last May in a drive-by attack. Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai had been a prominent pro-Taliban Sunni cleric whose killing sparked violence by thousands of his supporters in Karachi.
