The ministers are expected to demand the United Nations give Sudan more time to address political and humanitarian issues in Darfur.
Sudan's government is asking fellow members of the 22-member Arab League provide political support to Khartoum, in order to avoid U.N. sanctions and keep away possible foreign intervention.
An estimated 50,000 people have died in Darfur, a million have been displaced and two million more are short of food and medicine.

A U.N. Security Council resolution adopted July 30 threatens international action, if Sudan fails to bring the situation in Darfur under control within 30 days. The resolution urges Sudan to disarm marauding pro-government Arab militias, known as Janjaweed, accused of genocide and other atrocities against black residents of the region.
