Fritz suffered a foot injury four minutes into the second half and was forced to leave the game with Germany leading 20-14. The hosts took a 21-14 lead before Poland went on a 7-1 run to close the gap to 22-21. But Pascal Hens scored two straight goals to give Germany a three goal lead and put them on the winning track.
By winning the title, Germany qualifies for the Beijing Olympics. Denmark beat France 34-27 to win the bronze medal.
