A military spokesman in Kabul told reporters Saturday, the clash took place Friday when as many as 40 gunmen tried to move into a coalition position near Orgun, close to the Pakistan border. A number of militants are said to have fled during the gun fight, which the spokesman says caused no coalition casualties.
Separately, 14 suspected militants were reported to have been captured Thursday during a U.S. air assault on a compound near the eastern Afghan town of Khost.
