The clashes broke out not long after a truce deal between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah and Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal was announced.
At least 17 people were killed in clashes Friday before the ceasefire was approved.
Previous ceasefires between Hamas and Fatah have also collapsed. Six people were killed Thursday after an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire was announced earlier in the week.
Palestinian officials say Mr. Abbas and Mashaal plan to meet next week in Saudi Arabia in another effort to bridge their differences and negotiate a unity government.
Hamas refuses to renounce violence or recognize Israel. Fatah is in favor of making peace with the Jewish state.
The United States, the European Union and Israel classify Hamas as a terrorist organization.
