Legendary music producer on trial to determine whether he fatally shot actress Lana Clarkson in February 2003

A jury is in place for the murder trial of Phil Spector. Nine men and three women were sworn in April 19, to determine whether the legendary music producer fatally shot actress Lana Clarkson in February, 2003.

A panel of six alternates remains to be selected. Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler ordered that the process continue on April 23, followed by opening statements on Wednesday.

The jury reportedly includes several county employees, including two engineers, along with a network TV producer who has covered high-profile criminal cases. They were chosen from about 100 prospects who filled out questionnaires in advance, and were later questioned by attorneys.

The judge told the jury that the televised trial will last two to three months.

Famed for his "wall of sound" production technique, Phil Spector entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.

Lana Clarkson was best-known as the star of the 1980s cult film "Barbarian Queen." Phil Spector maintains his innocence, saying Clarkson committed suicide.
