Bolivian Football Federation president Walter Castedo said Blacutt was hired because he is Bolivian and because of his considerable experience. Blacutt coached the national team in 1991, as well as several top clubs in Bolivia and Ecuador.

Ramiro Blacutt has been named as the new coach of the struggling Bolivian national football team. The native Bolivian replaces Uruguayan Nelson Acosta, who was fired last week because of the team's poor performance in the South American zone World Cup qualifying series.
